Spring 2017 Work Study Positions are Full. How about a summer internship?
Every Semester Book & Plow Farm invites Amherst College students to join us in running and operating our vegetable farm. Work Study Students are involved in all aspects of vegetable production including but not limited to greenhouse seeding, transplanting, fertilization, cultivation, harvesting, washing, packing, delivering, and the inevitable miscellany that comes with growing food for a 2500 person family.
Positions - all of these positions will be involved with field tasks throughout the season but should you show any interest towards another facet of the farm there is room for you to explore it.
Greenhouse Help--start and care for seeds in the greenhouse
Harvest Help -- helps us harvest, help us feed a campus (fall only)
Field Workers -- be involved in all aspects of our 15 acre farm, times to be determined
Share Room Staff -- interact with 80 families by staffing the share room during veggie pick ups on Wednesday nights (Fall only)
Social Media Staff -- document, post, pin, poke, photograph, write, tweet, tumble for Book & Plow Farm
Work Study Administrator -- collect and check time sheets from the crew every other week
We will determine the specific shifts for each semester based on student availability.
Spots are limited. We try to balance new people with folks who have worked on the farm before.
